Synara vs Emdash
Emdash, from General Action, is a free, open-source agentic development environment that runs coding agents in parallel Git worktrees on macOS, Windows and Linux. Synara covers the same ground and differs in its pull-request tools, provider handoffs, Kanban board and macOS integrations.
Key differences from Emdash
- Both are free, open source and cross-platform, and both give each task its own Git worktree, terminal and review state.
- Emdash supports a long list of CLI agents and turns issues from Linear, GitHub, Jira and others into tasks. Synara runs ten runtimes and can hand a task between supported runtimes mid-task.
- Emdash runs projects on remote machines over SSH. Synara offers a headless server package for running the workspace on another machine.
- Synara includes a Kanban board and Inbox, a pull-request workspace with stacked PRs and auto-fix CI, plus Computer Use and an iOS Simulator panel on macOS.
