# Slash commands

Canonical URL: https://www.trysynara.com/docs/reference/slash-commands

Type `/` in the composer to open the command menu. Provider-native commands (like Claude's own `/review`) are merged into the same menu; the commands below are Synara's.

## Thread control [#thread-control]

| Command | What it does |
| --------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/clear` (`/reset`, `/new`) | Start a fresh thread and clear context |
| `/compact` | Compact the current thread's context to free space |
| `/status` | Show context usage and rate-limit status |
| `/model` | Switch the response model for this thread |
| `/fast` | Toggle fast mode for this thread |
| `/export` | Download the thread as a ZIP (`thread.json` + readable `transcript.md`) |

## Rename the current task [#rename-the-current-task]

Use `/rename <title>` to set a title directly, including for a local draft. Use bare `/rename` to generate a title from a saved conversation; send a message first if there is no context. This is an app-owned command, so it does not send `/rename` as a normal provider prompt. If the title changes while generation runs, Synara keeps the newer title.

See [Organize and navigate](/docs/features/organize) for sidebar and conversation controls.

## Modes [#modes]

| Command | What it does |
| ---------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/plan` | Switch the thread into plan mode — the agent proposes before executing, and can pause to ask you multi-select questions |
| `/debug` | Switch into the evidence-first [Debug workflow](/docs/workflows/debugging): observe, reproduce, investigate, fix, and verify |
| `/default` | Return to normal chat mode |
| `/review` | Start a code review of the current changes |

## Branch and delegate [#branch-and-delegate]

| Command | What it does |
| --------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/fork` (`/branch`) | Fork the thread into the local checkout or a new worktree |
| `/side [provider] [prompt]` | Open a guarded side-thread, optionally on another available provider |
| `/subagents` | Ask the assistant to delegate independent work to parallel subagents |
| `/automation` | Turn this prompt into a scheduled [automation](/docs/features/automations) |

Read [Thread forks](/docs/workflows/forks) for message-level forks, native provider coverage, and environment ownership.

For a cross-provider side chat, put the provider kind or display name first—for example, `/side codex review the current diff` or `/side Claude Code investigate the failing test`. Synara removes that provider token from the child prompt and accepts it only when the target runtime is available. Without a provider token, `/side` starts from the current provider. Before its first turn, an empty side chat also lets you choose the provider and model from its composer.

## Persistent goals [#persistent-goals]

| Command | What it does |
| ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/goal` | Show the current persistent goal |
| `/goal <objective>` | Set or replace the goal |
| `/goal edit` | Reopen the current goal in the composer |
| `/goal pause` / `/goal resume` | Pause or resume autonomous pursuit and its timer |
| `/goal clear` | Remove the active goal without recording an achievement |

Use `/goal -- <objective>` to treat the objective as literal text, including control words such as `clear`. Goal menu and edit prefills use this form automatically. To start an objective with `--`, repeat the separator: `/goal -- -- <text>`.

Goals are deliberate durable task state, not an automatic label for every prompt. See [Thread goals](/docs/features/thread-goals) for continuation priority, achievement, and blocked-goal behavior.

## App [#app]

| Command | What it does |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------- |
| `/feedback` (`/bug`) | Send feedback to the Synara team |

<Callout type="info" title="The ones worth memorizing">
`/plan` before big changes, `/debug` for an unknown defect, `/goal` for a durable multi-turn
objective, `/fork` when a conversation should branch, and `/export` to share a session.
</Callout>

## Computer Use beta [#computer-use-beta]

`/computer-use <task>` enables native Computer for one request on macOS. Linux is coming soon. An empty command waits for task text; permission setup does not automatically send the message. The default **Computer control** setting is a separate opt-in for ordinary turns. See [Computer Use](/docs/features/computer-use).

Claude `/design` and `/slides` require the optional Artifacts setting and a compatible new session. See [Claude Code](/docs/providers/claude-code).
